Samsung King of the Smartphone Market

IDC is a quarterly summary figure on the total market for mobile phones and for the smartphone market. From these statements, which you also see the figures of the 2nd quarter in 2011, is quite what to make.

Thus we see that the total market barely growing (1%), while the smartphone market just grows by 42%. So this growth comes at the expense of the feature smartphones (aka called dumb phones).

We also see that Nokia last year was even bigger than Samsung, but Samsung is now a year later clearly has the power taken. Certainly in the smartphone segment, Samsung is unstoppable. She sold the quarter almost 3 times as many phones as in the same quarter in 2011 and nearly doubled its market share in the smartphone market. You can therefore Samsung is the king of the smartphone market call. She is also simply in terms of leading the overall market for mobile phones.

We also see that ZTE HTC and Nokia are getting closer. HTC did it just like Nokia which is less than in 2011, but ZTE is making great leaps. The company sold 4 times as many smartphones during the quarter than a year earlier. So I expect that Nokia is going ZTE earlier than HTC.
