Apple and Samsung share half the world's smartphone market

According to ABI Research smartphone sales showed strong growth and a 41% higher than the number sold in 2011 smartphone. At the end of the first quarter (March) 2012, this growth was calculated 144.6 million units of smartphones. But despite such rosy figures for the market, talk about a variety of still quite difficult. The fact is that half of the smartphone market today - it's Apple and Samsung.

Two leading companies have taken 55% market share in worldwide sales of smartphones at the same time pocketing 90% of its profits. Is it all that bad, and the third player in this fight we will not see?

It seems, though some prerequisites for the growth of exhibits Sony, demonstrated a consistent growth over the past two quarters. At Nokia, the once unequivocal market leader, there was a 40% decline in shipments, and this figure could soon be equated with the Finnish company to the Canadian RIM, which figures also showed growth over recent quarters. Although Research In Motion things are not as bad as the Nokia (reduced shipments by 20%) say that things have Canadians in order, do not dare. But in contrast to the rapidly losing popularity of a lone BlackBerry, the Nokia is a strategic partner in the face of Microsoft and its Windows Phone.
