As tempting as it is a new Google Now you can be sure that the cooks of xda will be hard at work to bring on as many devices as possible quickly. The first step sees as lucky recipients who have a ROM Ice Cream Sandwich based on AOSP, as CyanogenMod and many others.
The app works pretty well (except for some jamming) and at least serve as a tutorial to familiarize yourself with the cards that now populate the Google search, each of which is highly configurable, complete with a dedicated notifications, ranging from traffic, to information on public transportation, reminders for appointments, not forgetting the obligatory weather.
To be replaced is the file the search bar of Google, so you will need the root permissions (but if you already have a custom firmware so it will not be a problem).
The installation instructions are quite simple but must be followed well to avoid problems:
1.Downloaded this file and rename it as GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
2.Go in / system / app and make a backup copy of the original file GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk (may be rename it)
3.Replace the files in / system / app with what you downloaded and renamed in step 1
4.Set permissions to 644 (rw-r-r-)
5.Now reboot and enjoy Google (the Google search bar)
In case of problems you have to restore the files you backed up in step 2 and restart the system. Remember that Google Now give his best when he has learned to know each other and that the voice search does not work in Italian, but do not forget to let us know in the comments as you lie on your first ride with Google Now.
