iPhone Dev Team brings big update of redsn0w (jailbreak)

The iPhone Dev Team has announced a major update for redsn0w. The jailbreak tool gets 0.9.15b1 version number and contains a long list of new features. It is now easier to older firmware to restore, even if they are no longer signed by Apple. People with an iOS device with A4 processor can now install Cydia by default when performing a tethered jailbreak iOS 6, without them having to go to SSH working.

You can now select from any version of iOS 5.x restore to any other version (up, down or the same) on all iDevices, as long as you have the correct blobs. Good to know: every time a new set of blobs is retrieved from Cydia or Apple, redsn0w will ensure that they are stored locally. In the future it will therefore first be examined locally. On the ATv2 you with a tethered jailbreak redsn0w now perform but it really currently only the SSH2 custom bundle. Cydia is not yet available.

The list of improvements is more than we can enumerate, so take a look at the blog posting by iPhone Dev Team. The tool is on dozens of improvements and replacements, but a major breakthrough for new firmware and new devices is not there.

The jailbreak for iOS 6 is still in beta and is not yet ready for most iDevices. For newer devices with A5 and A6 processor is still no jailbreak for iOS 6 is possible because there is no bootrom exploits available. For older devices is only a tethered jailbreak possible, which means that with every reboot your device and re-jailbreak Cydia manually install. Who really can not wait and be in for an adventure, you may try using redsn0w on an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4.
